Obituary

Adam Galaviz, Sr., age 83 of Seguin, passed away on November 1, 2013. Visitation will begin Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel at 4:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel at 10 a.m. with Chaplain John Rabon officiating. Interment with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Adam aka "Big Man" was born on August 9, 1930 in Seguin, Texas to Geronimo and Eva Vidaurri Galaviz. He proudly served his country in the United States Army having been stationed in Germany after World War II and before the Korean Conflict. As an avid golfer, he served as Golf Superintendent at many San Antonio Area Bases. After retiring, he continued playing golf. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anita Espinosa and his brothers Abel Galaviz and Alfredo Galaviz. Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Eloisa "Loy" Galaviz; sons, Gilbert Galaviz and wife Gloria, Adam Galaviz, Jr. and wife Corina, Gabriel Quinones and wife Belia and Richard Quinones; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Sosa, Mark Phelps, Val Arriola, III, Andy Gallegos, Andy Gallegos, Jr. and Paul Gallegos. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pan American Golf Association, P. O. Box 1064, Seguin, Texas, 78155 or to the charity of one's choice.
