Obituary

Adolph L. Schaefer, Jr., age 71 of Seguin, passed away on June 14, 2019. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 beginning at Tres Hewell Mortuary at 5 p.m. followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 306 Ave. F, Shiner, Texas with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Shiner. Adolph was born on June 13, 1948 in Shiner, Texas to Adolf A. and Isabella (Chumchal) Schaefer. He was the owner of Schaefer Crop Insurance Services and always enjoyed visiting with the farmers and ranchers who came into his office. He loved spending time on his ranch in Shiner especially among his family and friends. Adolph had been an active member of St. James Catholic Church. He served as a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council #3412 here in Seguin. Adolph was a lifelong musician and will be remembered for his talents on both the steel guitar and saxophone. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years Irene Condel Schaefer, his daughter, Yvonne Lopez and husband Noel; sons, Craig Schaefer and wife Nichole, and Derek Schaefer; grandchildren, Tyler Behlen and wife Brooke, Brandi Behlen and fiancé John Michael Groot, and Stephanie Schaefer; great-grandchildren, Ty, Trigger, Tinsley and Timber Behlen; sisters, Patsy Boehm and husband Bobby, and Janie Boehm and husband Waldo; brothers, Randy Schaefer and wife Mimi, Donnie Schaefer and wife Gayle, Mike Schaefer and Damon Schaefer; several aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Donnie Alsobrooks, Bucky Boehm, Cole McDonald, Dennis Hausler, Scott Williams, and Ishmael Flores. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 510 S. Camp St., Seguin, Texas, 78155 or to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 306 Ave. F., Shiner, Texas, 77984.
