Albert Frank (Al) Mannel, age 87 of Seguin, passed away on October 12, 2012. A memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Carl McCauley officiating. A reception will follow in Karrick Hall at First Presbyterian Church. Private Interment will be held at a later date. Al was born on January 6, 1925 in Hartford, Connecticut to Albert Frank and Carrie L. Howard Mannel. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corp. He was a graduate of the Hartford High School, Class of 46 in Hartford, CT. He received his Bachelor's of Science Degree from LSU in 1949. He married Nancy Liter on August 16, 1949 in Baton Rouge, LA. Al was a research chemist for Shell Development Corporation in Houston for 37 years until his retirement. He enjoyed working with Boy Scouts as a Merit Badge Counselor and Committee Member in Houston. Al and Nancy retired to Seguin in 1986 where they became active members of First Presbyterian Church. Al was also a member of the Kiwanis Club in Seguin. Al is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Beverly and Eleanor and a special cousin, Alvera Olson. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy Mannel; sons, George and wife Gina, Robert and wife Becky, and Doug and wife Jill; Godson, Rev. Thomas Olson and wife Pat; grandchildren, Bobby and wife Cheryl, Joe, Megan, David, Lisa, Brian, Steven and wife Amanda, and Kelly DuVall; great-grandchildren, Jonah, Remi, Jade and Malek; special in-laws, John and Katie Liter and Mildred Nibeck; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
