Alfred "Chip" James Bacon, Jr., age 37 of New Braunfels, passed away on October 15, 2015. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 10:30 at Faith Lutheran Church. A reception will follow in the Life Enrichment Center. Private burial will be at a later date in the Faith Lutheran Church Columbarium. Chip was born on December 19, 1977 in San Antonio Texas to Alfred James, Sr. and Deberia Ruth (Carlstrand) Bacon. He was a 1996 graduate of Seguin High School where he was co-captain of the Seguin High School Soccer Team and a member of the Seguin High School National Honor Society. He will be remembered as a terrific water skier. At ages 12, 14, and 16 he qualified to compete in the United States National Water Ski Championships. As a member of the Lake Mc Queeney Ski Bees, he participated in the weekly ski shows and was also a member of the Ski Bee show team that won a regional championship at Sea World in San Antonio. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Currently he was one of the top salesman in his division at the Fastenal Company. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Alfred and Alice Bacon, Ben Stein and his uncle, Dolphus Carlstrand. Survivors include his son, Austin James Bacon; parents, Al and Debbie Bacon; brothers, Derrick Bacon and wife Joanna, and Brian Bacon and wife Alexandra; nieces, Caitlyn and Addisyn Bacon; grandmother, Helen Stein; cousins, Todd Carlstrand, Holly Carlstrand and Clint Carlstrand; former wife, Vanessa Leyendecker; and many friends. Chip loved fishing and hunting but his most cherished time was that with his son. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 1326 E.
