Alfred A. Missildine, age 78 of Seguin, passed away on October 5, 2011. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services and interment will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Gerald Metzger officiating. Alfred was born in Simms, Texas, September 24, 1933 to Alfred Missildine and Margarete Diffie Bryant. At an early age he moved to Texarkana, Arkansas where he graduated from Arkansas High School in 1952. He was inducted in the Army in 1952 and spent his time at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. He was voted Several times as soldier of the month and taught Morse Code to the troops. In 1953 he married his High School Sweetheart, the former La Jean Parker. In May of 1956 he went to work for A. T. & T. When President Kennedy was assassinated he was on special assignment to set up communications at President Johnson's Ranch. He was later Service Coordinator for television feeds for the Dallas Cowboys. Several years later he was assigned to attend meetings in Guadalajara and Monterrey Mexico in regard to the "68" Olympics. He served in Houston for NASA as a communication coordinator for Apollo 13 & 14. He transferred to Seguin from Bulverde in 1967 where he was First Line Supervisor. He headed up the Disaster Tower Assistance for Radio Towers that went down due to Tornados or Hurricanes. He retired in 1988 where he was retired as A. T. &T.'s Filter Optic Cable Inspector. He retired in April of "89" for the last time and has enjoyed his life on his farm on the Guadalupe River. Most of his life was centered around his family and especially his perfect grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara (Jean) Missildine; daughter, Deborah Klein and husband Donald; son, Jim Missildine and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Becky Schondau and husband Scott, Justin Missildine and wife Andrea, Robin McAplin and husband Roy, Kristin Klein, Keli Taylor and husband Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ava, Chase, Bailey, Jackson and Riley.
