Alice Fay Luersen Smith, age 77 of Seguin, was joyfully greeted by our heavenly father on January 9, 2016. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 3 pm at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Roy officiating. A reception will follow at the Life Enrichment Center at Faith Lutheran Church. Private interment will be held at a later date. Alice was born on May 11, 1938 in Uhland Texas to Melvin Louis and Margaret Marie (Cowan) Luersen. She grew up in San Marcos and graduated from San Marcos High School. A longtime resident of Seguin, she will be missed by her many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Deborah Luersen, brother, William Clay "Butch" Luersen and grandson Matthew James Vincent. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James J. Smith; children, Jacqueline Smith, Donna Vincent Beck, and Fonda Mathis and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Michelle Smith Velasquez and husband Jose, John Vincent and wife Robin, Jenna Marie Vincent, and Kyle Mathis; great grandchildren, Paige, Kylie and Ethan Smith Zimmermann, Kaden and Kamryn Vincent, Hazzel Vincent, and Peyton, Lyndon and Carter Smith Velasquez; siblings, Henry Luersen and wife Valeen, and Carolyn Wood and husband Robert; sisters-in-law, Terri Luersen and Claudia Ann Lawson; brother-in-law, William Slagle and wife Callie Ann; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johnny, Kyle, Joe, Ethan, Kevin and Rick. Her family was extremely important to her and words cannot express how wonderful she was and how very much she is loved and how much she will be missed.
