Alvin John Gocken, age 99 of Seguin, formerly of Harlingen, passed away on March 2, 2013. Alvin was born on July 2, 1913 in Garrison, Nebraska to Ahlrich and Anna Marie Remmers Gocken. He is preceded in death by his first, second, and third wives, Lillie, Rose and Alice Gocken, his parents, his brother, Clarence Gocken and his sisters, Frieda Carper and Ina Boecker. Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Gocken Jones of Minnesota; step-daughters, Karen Smith of California and Dorothy Helmbrect of Minnesota; brothers, Dale Gocken of South Dakota and Verne Gocken of Kansas; niece and caregiver, Velma Huebner and husband Franklin of Seguin, Texas and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. Private services and interment will be held at a later date in Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
