Alvin R. Hoffmann, age 93 of Seguin, passed away on January 4, 2014. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Interment will follow in Eden Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Cross Church Fellowship Hall. Alvin was born on November 13, 1920 in Guadalupe County to Edwin and Lena (Henzel) Hoffmann. During World War II he proudly served his country in the United States Army having been stationed in England, France and Germany. He was a carpenter all his life having worked in residential construction for the Schuessler Lumber Company and later for the Koehler Company. He was a member of Cross Church and Hermann Sons Lodge No 37 in Seguin. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Annie Stobbs Hoffmann; his children, Carol Henze (Gilbert), Bob Hoffmann, Larry Hoffmann(Sheila Hahn Hoffmann), and Earl Hoffmann; grandchildren, Michael Henze (Jill), Matthew Hoffmann (Andrea), and Kelly Hoffmann; great-grandchildren, John Henze, Grace Henze and Holden Hoffmann; sister, Ella Jahns; sister-in-law, Hannah Lori Hoffmann; numerous nieces and nephews. Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George, Adolph and Emil Hoffmann and daughter-in-law, Linda Hoffmann. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Henze, Matthew Hoffmann, Alan Bode, Glenn Rabe, Bryan Luensmann and Steve Koehler. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Koehler, Gregg Koehler, Benno Luensmann, Eric Garcia, Manuel Rodriguez, Kenneth "Tiny" Mondin, Rick Harborth and Dr. Serapio Vela. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cross Church Building Fund, 814 N. Bauer, Seguin, Texas or to the charity of one's choice.
