Obituary

Anita Schriewer Engelke Wommack, age 95 was called home to her Lord and Savior on January 3, 2013. Anita was born in Geronimo, Texas on January 4, 1917 to Adolph and Hulda Schriewer along with her twin sister, Melita. She later moved to Seguin, helped in the family laundry business and briefly worked for the telephone company. She married Edgar Engelke in 1936 and became a loving wife and mother to her children, Emmett and Joyce. She took pride in making her home a happy, attractive and comfortable place for her family and their friends. After the death of her first husband, Edgar, she was employed as a receptionist for the Weinert Estate. She later married Max Wommack, Sr. in 1973 and remained dedicated to him, her children and her extended family until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Melita Brechtel, and her first husband, Edgar Engelke. She is survived by her husband Max Wommack, Sr., her two children, Emmett Engelke and wife, Dolores, and Joyce Hartenstein and husband, Charlie. She is survived by three grandsons, Chris Hartenstein and wife Susan; Greg Hartenstein and wife Michelle; and Jeffrey Engelke and wife Ronda. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Michelle, Megan, Macy, Ashley, and Emma Hartenstein; and Brance and Baileigh Engelke. Anita is also survived by her extended Wommack family: step-sons Max Wommack Jr. and wife Janis, and John Wommack and wife Gayna; four step-grandchildren, Travis Wommack and wife Stephanie, Lance Wommack, Chris Wommack and wife Jessi, and Alyssa Locklear and husband Chance; and five step great-grandchildren, Ella, Kate, Mattie and Jeremiah Wommack, and Cade Locklear. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Anita was a faithful and active member of Emanuel's Lutheran Church for many years and also a lifelong member of the Sons of Hermann. Her favorite social activities included bowling, dancing, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of Guadalupe Valley Nursing Center for their years of loving care. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Emanuel's Lutheran Church. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Emanuel's Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul J. Zwarich officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel's Lutheran Church, 206 N. Travis, Seguin Texas, 78155 or to the charity of one's choice.
