Arthur William "Art" or "Artie" Altwein, age 52, of Houston, formerly of Seguin, passed away on August 21, 2016. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Cross Church with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Art was born on October 19th, 1963 to Kermit and Marilyn (Schleicher) Altwein.
Art was a 1982 graduate of Seguin High School and a 1986 graduate of Southwest Texas State University. He spent 25 years with Kmart before going to work with Commercial Metals Company in Houston. Art was an avid sports fan, especially, the Cowboys and Spurs. He was also a huge music fan and attended many concerts with his best friend, Jeff. AC/DC, Metallica and Foo Fighters were among his favorite artists. In 2013, Art married the love of his life, Beronica. Above all, he loved his family and was most happy when spending time with them.
His first wife Linda, and his father preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Beronica Altwein; his children, Andre Altwein, Austin Altwein, Martin (Tony) Flores, Valerie Garcia, Veronica Garcia, Isaiah (Dante) Perez, Quentin Perez; mother, Marilyn Altwein; sister, Susan Thibodeaux; nephew, Cody Thibodeaux, niece, Nicole Thibodeaux; numerous cousins, other loving family members and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andre Altwein, Austin Altwein, Tony Flores, Cody Thibodeaux, Richard Schleicher, Mike Stautzenberger and Jeff Schwerdtfeger. Memorial contributions may be made to www.gofundme.com/artaltwein or a charity of your choice.
