Obituary

Arvie James Spears, Jr., age 80 of Seguin, passed away on February 11, 2016. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Charles Purnell, Jr. and Rev. Charles McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arvie was born in Guadalupe County on March 27, 1935 to Arvie James, Sr. and Willie Erma (Irwin) Spears. He is preceded in death by his son, Abron Spears, his parents, his grandson, Shane Spears and his sister, Christina Spears. Survivors include his long-time companion, Yvonne Sutton; children, Carolyn Freeman, Gerald Spears, Aaron Spears, Leslie Hooker, Patrick Mack, Aaron Jackson and Michael Sutton; grandchildren, Tanisha Turner, Shawn Spears and Crystal Dawn Spears; great-grandchildren, John Blair, Jasmin Blair and Joy Blair; sister, Gloria Dawn Davis; sisters-in-law, Betty James and Amanda Davis; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Pablo Morales, Bob Wright, Fentress Collier, Aaron Wright, Thomas Lee Nichols III and Willie Bruns. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Spears, Clarence Little, Jr., Charles Taylor, Joe Patterson, Kenneth Crump and James Campbell. Memorial Contributions may be made to Wesley-Harper United Methodist Church, 754 West Court St., Seguin, TX. 78155.
