Obituary

A. J. Johnson, age 91 of Seguin, passed away on February 7, 2011. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Willie Spreen officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. A. J. was born on August 23, 1919 in Ranger Texas to John R. and Edna Dupre Johnson. A.J. Johnson is preceded in death by his wife Lucile Spahn Johnson, his eldest son A.J. Jr. and his parents. He is survived by grandsons AJ Johnson III wife Missy great grandchildren Cody and Hannah and grandson Eddie Clint Johnson. He is survived by his son Ronnie and his wife Jean. He has a grandson from Arnold Missouri, Rodney Johnson and his wife Wreneta and great granddaughter Shawday. He is also survived by a daughter Kathy Klaehn Johnson. He has a granddaughter LaDonna Jones and her husband Wayne. Three great grand children Denyse and husband Jim Farris of New Braunfels, great grandson Ernie and wife Wendy of New Braunfels 2 great- great granddaughters Brianna and Erin, great grandson David and wife Alison of Vienna Virginia and one great- great grandson Aidan Jones; long time best friend Albert Lindemann and wife Aline and family; numerous nieces and nephews. He spent 30 years as a volunteer fireman making the conventions as a delegate and being over the fire safety poster committee for his area. He had been a member of Emanuel's Lutheran Church since 1945. He was a member of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post 245 in Seguin for more then 35 years. He was an avid Matador football fan since 1945 missing few games until the past several years when traveling long distances became difficult. He then started following Navarro when the Mats were out of town. He was a decorated WWII Veteran having proudly served in the United States Army. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Seguin Fire Department and Auxiliary and the American Legion H. U. Wood Post 245. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel's Lutheran Church, 206 N. Travis, Seguin, Texas, 78155 or the charity of one's choice.
