Barbara Jean White Allan, age 86 of Kingsbury, passed away on April 18, 2026.
Barbara was born in Sherman, Texas, on April 26, 1939, the daughter of Elba Fleming and James White. She graduated from Sunset High School and began working at a bank in downtown Dallas. A stockbroker by the name of Bruce Allan often dropped by at lunch to take care of his banking…
Bruce and Barbara married on May 30, 1961, at Incarnation Episcopal Church in Dallas. Associate Rector, Donald Smith officiated the wedding. Don was a life-long mentor to Bruce and an important friend to Barbara. When their son Michael was born, he was given the middle name of Don in honor of Rev. Smith.
Bruce and Barbara lived for many years in Lucas, Texas. Their three children, Dina, Mike and Chris, enjoyed playing in the barn and riding horses. Bruce continued to work downtown, and Barbara was a stay-at-home mom caring for the family and the pets which included horses, a goat, a raccoon, dogs, cats, and chickens. It was a full-time job.
Retirement took Bruce and Barbara to Seguin, Texas, where they enjoyed life on 10 acres with a fresh generation of dogs, cats, and donkeys.
Barbara’s life revolved around an incredible group of friends. The best of the best. Her friend, Nadine Pearce, was an artist. She and Nadine spent hours laughing and molding clay. Barbara always dabbled in art, but when she became friends with Nadine, she developed her skills and became an artist in her own right.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Dina, and her sons, Michael and Christopher. Her grandchildren Parker, Cooper, Miles, Max, Zoe and Maya are growing, flourishing and carrying the Allan name forward.
A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with the Reverend Stephen Shortess officiating. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 201 E. Nolte St., Seguin, Texas, 78155.
A final note: Speaking of the best of the best, Cathy Medlin was with Barbara the final hours of her life. The family cannot thank her enough for her generous spirit and steadfast friendship. She is currently working to re-home Barbara’s pets. So, if you have room for a cat or a donkey, you know what to do.
