Obituary

Bess Emily Reneau, age 93, of Seguin, Texas, died peacefully on September 13, 2024, at the Jemima Caring Personal Care Home in Seguin, Texas.

She was born December 31, 1930, in Weslaco, Texas, daughter of Bessie Hoffmann (Glenewinkel) Buss and Edgar Albert Glenewinkel. She was married to Malcom Lee Reneau for 62 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that loved her family and cattle.

She is preceded in death by her husband Malcom Reneau, her brothers Norman, Delton, Albert, Frank, Bobbie, and Danny Glenewinkel, and her sisters-in-law Martha Glenewinkel and Martha Smith. She is survived by her brother Arlen (LaVerne) Glenewinkel, her sisters-in law Barbara and Cherlyn Glenewinkel, her children Nathan (Sandra) Reneau, Alana (Joseph) Peck, and Keri (Randy) Orr, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She had many interests throughout her lifetime. She served as the matriarch of her family and kept everyone in contact with one another by hosting annual celebrations at her home for over sixty years. She also was always involved in her church, serving in many positions including Sunday school teacher, children's church leader, youth leader, and choir member. If the church doors were open, she was there. Her love of children extended to her career as well as she was a school bus driver for Seguin ISD for 29 years. Her entire adulthood was also spent raising all types of animals. If it could be raised on a farm, she had it at some point in her life. She and her husband raised cattle throughout their life together. They both found great joy in caring for their herd.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Gifted Hearts Hospice and her caregiver, Ezatu Mohammed, for the excellent care she received.

Her viewing will be held at Hillcrest Assembly of God on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Her funeral will immediately follow the viewing at 11:00 a.m. at the same location with Reverend Michael Moak officiating. Interment will be at Dugger cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hillcrest Assembly of God, 1440 Eastwood Drive, Seguin, TX 78155 in memory of Bess Emily Reneau.
