Elizabeth (Betty) J. Musil

Betty Musil, (83) loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on February 10, 2008 in Seguin, TX. Betty was born in a farmhouse southwest of Sidney, NE on November 5, 1924 to Ellen (Hemmer) and George Hockerson. She was the oldest of four siblings: John, Donald and Teresa Ratto who all precede her in death.

Betty rode her horse to country school until she attended and graduated from Sidney High. She met Roland Musil at a dance and they were married at St. Patrick's Church on September 6, 1943. They farmed north of Potter until 1996 when they retired and moved to Rockport, TX. Betty loved to sew and made many denim quilts. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking bread and gardening. She volunteered at the St. Patrick's Rummage House, Potter Youth Center, Rockport Castaways (a second-hand shop) and was a member of the St. Patrick's Altar Society, Royal Neighbors and Social Neighbors.

Betty will be missed greatly by her husband Roland, four children, Deanie and husband Dan Knight of Seguin, TX, Dick and wife Peg Musil of Potter, NE, Donna Musil of Hurst, TX and Dina and husband Channing Cox of Topeka, KS; grandchildren Brennen and Michele Knight, Todd and Kathie Knight, Shelly (Knight) and Mike Osborne, Tanya (Musil) and Kirk Hood, Janelle (Musil) and Matthew Armstrong, Chris and Sharyn Cox and Stacy (Cox) and Rob Joly; and great grandchildren Savannah, Sidney, Sierra, Summer and Sunny Knight, Hayley and Jacob Knight, Skyler and Ian Osborne, Dylan and Hannah Hood, Charles and Thomas Armstrong, Evan and Elizabeth Cox, Mackenzie, Nathan and Hannah Joly; sister-in-law Barbara Hockerson of Windsor, CA, brother-in-law and wife Millard and Madeline Musil of Sidney, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial mass services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15 at St. James Catholic Church in Seguin, TX. The rosary will precede the mass at 10:30 A.M. Inurnment will take place in Potter at a later date. Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin is assisting the family with arrangements.
