Obituary

Bettye Lou Crow Lindenberg was born the first child of Buck and Corine Ballard Crow in Port Arthur, TX on January 14, 1926. She went to Heaven on the morning of Friday, November 09, 2012. Bettye was predeceased by her parents, husband, and son. She is survived by her daughter Anne Lindenberg Walker of Round Rock (Johnny), her cherished little sister, Patsy Kay of Houston, grandchildren: Lee Walker of Austin (Carrie), Rebecca Walker of Austin (Daniel Womack), Suzanne Braaten of San Antonio (Adam), and Elle Lindenberg of Seguin. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Donna Krueger Lindenberg of Seguin along with sister-in-law Elisabeth Holm of Austin and her nieces and nephews. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur and attended Southwestern University in Georgetown. While at Southwestern, she met Kurt Lindenberg. They married on May 7, 1948 in Smithville and began their life together in Houston. They settled in Seguin in January of 1956. Bettye and Kurt raised two children (Anne and Brandt) while becoming involved in the Seguin community. Bettye enjoyed being involved in Emanuel's Lutheran Church, Texas Lutheran College, Seguin Study Club, Mid-Texas Symphony, and The Christian Cupboard. Bettye completed her college work at Texas Lutheran College and later taught business courses at Seguin High School in the 70's and 80's. After retiring she enjoyed volunteering, traveling, and playing as much bridge as possible. Bettye's life was defined by the relationships she formed. She cherished the friendships she had with many people throughout her life; her childhood friends from Port Arthur, her college friends from Southwestern, the friends she and Kurt made in Houston as newlyweds and the many friends she and Kurt made in the Seguin community. Anne and the family wish to express sincere thanks and gratitude to the many caregivers that assisted Bettye and the family in her final months, weeks, and days. They include the staff at Seguin Assisted Living, staff and patients at GRMC IPRU, GVNC staff and GRMC Hospice. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Emanuel's Lutheran Church in Seguin on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM. with Rev. Paul J. Zwarich and Pastoral Assistant Donna Lou Zipp officiating. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Braaten, Daniel Womack, Lee Walker, Ken Kiel, Bill Meier and Rob Lindenberg.
