Obituary

Bill Lorance was born on December 7th, 1940 in Royce City, Texas.  His Parents were Duward and Agness Lorance.  Bill moved to McKinney, Texas at an early age where he attended primary and junior high school.  At the age of fourteen, his family moved to Irving, Texas and Bill started on the varsity football team as a freshman.  He was a standout football player and in 1959 West Texas State offered him a full football scholarship.  He played there for the legendary football coach, Joe Kerbal, and was a standout player all 4 years.

He married Sheri Clements Lorance on August 10, 1963.  She had her teaching degree and they resided in Canyon until his graduation in Physical Education later that year.  In 1965 they moved to Dallas, Texas and he accepted a coaching position in Duncanville.  He coached for another 13 years at Memphis, Texas City and Port Lavaca.  While coaching in Port Lavaca, Bill received a Master's degree in Biology.  In 1976, Bill decided to end his coaching career and began working in the oilfield for Dowell.  After leaving Dowell he worked for Lambert Hollub in Seguin for two years drilling oil and gas wells.  He then proceeded to start his own Oil consulting company which he operated for 33 years.

Bill retired from the oilfield and with time on his hands began wood carving.  He enjoyed learning the craft and made many friends in the wood carving community and actually ended up winning several awards.

Bill was diagnosed with Cancer earlier this year and was placed in hospice care in August of this year.  The family would like to thank the hospice caregivers, social workers and Chaplain for the special care that they provided throughout his battle with cancer.

Bill went to his eternal rest, peacefully at his home on December 21, 2024.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years Sheri Clements Lorance, son Lance Lorance, daughter Lori Lorance, and her husband John Supernaut, grandchildren Cameron Reagan, Hailey Reagan, Jenna Lorance and Landon Lorance.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Jeanette Siltmann, 196 Townesend Rd., Seguin, Texas, 78155.
