Billy Ross McGinty, age 83 of Seguin, passed away on January 22, 2017. Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 27, 2017 at 10 am at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Welborn and Bill Knobles officiating. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

He was born on July 14, 1933 in Wrightsboro, Texas to Adell Sloan McGinty and Orvon McGinty. Billy was raised in Gonzales, Texas and graduated Texas Lutheran University in 1955 with a degree in Math. After graduating, he was in the Army for two years.

He met the love of his life, Betty Jo Gregory and they were married on November 14, 1959. His career was in civil service at Randolph Air Force Base where he and his team developed computer-based instruction to teach pilots in the early 1970's. After retirement he sold real estate and played his fiddle in many local country opry's. He also enjoyed his time out on the family ranch surrounded by nature and his cows.

His home was filled with faith, love, lively conversations, and laughter. He was an inspiration to so many, through the way he lived his life, and his "sayings" about what is important in life. Billy Ross was a member of First United Methodist Church in Seguin. He loved being with his family, his church family, and his music family.

He will be greatly missed by his children; Kim and son-in-law, Rusty Smith; Mike and daughter-in-law, Sue; six grandchildren Amanda Gail Krueger, Callie Jo Freudenberg and her husband, Ryan, Patrick Ross McGinty, Kevin Michael McGinty, Kelly Rose McGinty, and Dalton Russell Smith; sisters, Barbara Quinney and her husband, Bill, Sandra Wolff and her husband, Bubba; sisters-in-law Sally Redford and Jerry Hooper, and brother-in-law Irvin Granberry, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty Jo; sister-in-law Lou Granberry, and brother-in-law Jack Redford. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren; honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Hardcastle, Bill Quinney, Bubba Wolff, and Irvin Granberry.
