Billye Barr Hall, age 89 of McQueeney, passed away on October 28, 2015. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Seguin on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Andy Smith and Rev. Bill Knobles officiating. A reception will follow in Hierholzer Hall. Interment will be held at a later date at the Old Killeen City Cemetery. Billye was born in Killeen, Texas, on October 8, 1926 to Hugh Thomas and Marguerite Doris (Miller) Barr. She was a graduate of Killeen High School. She married Norman Hall and moved to Atascadero, California. Billye was a member of the United Methodist Church and a life member of the United Methodist Women, serving as President in Lampasas, Andrews and Round Rock. She was an active member and President of three Federated Clubs: The "36" Club, Garden Club and the Luncheon Study Club. She was the first woman ever to serve as Foreman on the Andrews County Grand Jury. She was an avid bowler and golfer, winning many trophies and won the Bell County Championship in tennis. She studied art at Washington State and two years at Central Texas College plus two years of private lessons. She taught Sunday School for 10 years. While living in Lampasas, she did volunteer work at the nursing home. She served as "First Lady" of AASA (American Association School Administrators) when Dr. Norm Sherera of California was President and again when her husband was President in 1977 and 1978. For a year she served as Social Hostess for an architect company planning receptions for educators across the United States for educational meetings. Billye is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Norman Hall, her sons Skip and his wife Beth and Charlie and his wife Vicky; three grandsons, Randy, Caleb, his fiancé Sara Robertson, and Nathan; and one great-granddaughter, Remi; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, T. H. Barr and Dred Miller Barr. Billye and Norman traveled the world touring over 100 foreign countries and many islands. She loved entertaining with receptions and sit-down dinners for 25 to 50 guests when Norm was Superintendent of Schools. She strongly believed that being a mother was among life's highest callings. Skip and Charlie were always free to bring their friends home, and later her grandchildren did the same. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 710 N.
