Bobby Joe Nelson, age 81 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Bobby was born on May 25, 1940 in Martin, Tennessee to Theodore and Laveria (Weldon) Nelson.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Danylyn Nelson. Survivors include his devoted wife of 16 years, Jane M. Nelson; his son, Craig Nelson; grandchildren, Sydney, Kacee, Blake and Saber Nelson; and two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other loving family members and many friends.

Bobby served in the United States Army and proudly served our country in Vietnam. With his troop in the Black Horse Regime, Bobby fought valiantly to get the colors back, CUSTER LOST THE COLORS! Bobby was a Trustee Officer for the McQueeney VFW Post # 9213 and enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends playing bingo and supporting the community.

Bobby was very loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A graveside service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 2 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the McQueeney VFW Post #9213, 78155, 275 Gallagher Rd, McQueeney, TX 78123.
