Boyd Porter, Jr., age 83 of Round Rock, died May 2, 2009 following a brief illness. Born August 26, 1925 in Houston, Texas, he was the son of Boyd and Pauline Porter. During World War II he was a member of the U. S. Marine Corp; serving 2 years in the Pacific aboard the aircraft carrier Bennington. Later, he worked as a salesman and radio broadcaster for various stations in Texas and Colorado, including KGNB in New Braunfels and KTAE in Taylor. He was a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club of Round Rock, serving one term as president. In addition, he was the Lieutenant Governor for Division 24 of the Texas-Oklahoma District of Kiwanis. A memorial service will be held 3 PM Monday, May 11, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, 1004 N. Mays, Round Rock, Texas with Rev. Dr. John Clifford officiating. Interment will follow later at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice.
