Brenda Kaye Coggin

On the beautiful evening of Sunday, June 14, 2026, and in the arms of her precious daughter, Brenda Kaye Coggin entered peacefully into her eternal rest. Known by all as Kaye, she was born in Gonzalez, Texas on July 1, 1948, to Emma Jean (Windwhen) and Ralph Sherry.

Most of her younger life was spent growing up in South Texas, but in the last 40 years she enjoyed the quiet country living in Seguin, Texas.

Kaye will be remembered for her devotion as a loving mother and homemaker. She took great pride in raising her family, keeping a tidy house, even ironing the pillow sheets. Creating a warm, welcoming home and preparing countless meals for her family is how she most often expressed her love.

Her greatest title was “Mamaw” which she was affectionately referred to by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed daily visits from Kelly and Kacey with endless fun at Mamaw’s house. Whether it was feeding the cats, hanging out on the back porch, telling stories around the kitchen table or sleepovers, she enjoyed every minute spent with family.

Besides her grandkids, Kaye’s hobbies were late night snacking and reading countless books. There wasn’t a particular author she would read from the many genres; westerns, romances, thrillers or mystery, but her favorite read was her Bible. Regardless of the situation, Kaye was a godly woman who found purpose and peace through her faith. She would clearly tell you what was on her mind but would always add in her cute smile with a chuckle and tell you to “Pray about it”. Her life was a testament to the fact that peace is possible in any situation when one walks with God. She has now found her ultimate peace in His arms. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” ~ 2 Timothy 4:7

Leaving to continue her legacy is her mother, Emma Jean Sherry; her sister, Ruth (Sam) Finto; her spouse, Johnny Coggin; her children, Ralph (Betty)Coggin and Ginger (Peter) Ward; her grandchildren, Cody, Brandon, Nicholas, Savanah, JoAnna; and many great grandchildren. She was welcomed home by her father, Ralph Sherry and granddaughter, Kaitlynn Wilson.

Graveside services and interment will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Dugger Cemetery with Chaplain Emanuel Carpenter officiating.
