Calvin Kenneth Salmon of Seguin, Texas (1923-2016)

Calvin Kenneth Salmon, 92, of Seguin, passed away on September 8, 2016. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 13th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1314 E. Cedar, Seguin, Texas with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating. Interment will precede the funeral services at Mission Park North Cemetery, 20900 IH 10 West, San Antonio, Texas at 11:00 a.m.
Calvin Kenneth Salmon was born on September 15, 1923, in Hollis, Oklahoma to Charles Edwin and Minnie Jane Salmon. Calvin worked for Celanese in Pampa, Texas before joining and serving in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a Machinist. Following WWII he owned and operated an automotive garage in Amarillo, Texas. Calvin moved to San Antonio after selling his garage in order to work for Wynns Motor Oil as a territorial salesman. His career continued in the San Antonio area as he moved from Wynns Oil to Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in sales and then managing stores. Calvin Salmon moved to Seguin in 1968 when he purchased, owned, and managed the Michna-Salmon Firestone Store until 1992.
Calvin Salmon married Alice Jeanne Eastham on September 4, 1948. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Larry Salmon, Kathy Trammell, Ann Petrosky, and Glenn Salmon; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother and one grandson.
Calvin K. Salmon was an active member in the Seguin community. He was a member of First Baptist Church since 1968, he served on the Seguin Housing Authority for 35 years, he was on the board of Guadalupe Regional Hospital, and was active in the Seguin Lions Club. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 1314 E. Cedar Street, Seguin, TX 78155.
