Obituary

On November 8, 2024, God called one of His angel's home—Carla Alejandra Medina Ramirez, La Voz de Oro, to join His heavenly choir. Carla, 43, of Seguin, Texas, was born on April 22, 1981, in San Antonio, Texas, to Irene (Dominguez) and Nicolas Medina. She is survived by her greatest loves: her children, Alexander Raymond Ramirez and Scarlett Leia Ramirez; her parents, Irene and Nicolas Medina; her brother, Mike Medina; her sister, Sonia Hernandez (Andrew); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Carla was preceded in death by her beloved abuelo, Isidro Medina.

Carla's greatest pride and joy were her children. She was a devoted mother, loving, caring, and always supportive of their every accomplishment, both big and small. She listened intently to every story they shared, every book they read to her, and answered all their questions with patience and love. Carla dedicated herself fully to being present in their lives, raising them to know and love God, to be kind and humble, and to always show love and compassion. She instilled in them a deep appreciation for music, a gift she cherished and shared. Above all, it was her children who illuminated her life, nothing brought her more joy than seeing them thrive.

Carla's love for her family knew no bounds. She cherished her parents deeply, often sharing stories of their travels and their enduring love. She spoke of her sibling bond with pride, reminiscing about the fun times she shared with her older brother, Mike, and her little sister, Sonia. Carla's love extended to her extended family, as well, sharing warm memories of backyard barbecues, trips to Mexico to visit relatives, and the laughter filled holiday gatherings that brought them all together.

As a gifted musician, singer, director, teacher, and mentor, she touched countless lives. She served as the Associate Mariachi Director at Irving Middle School and served as Teatro De Artes' Mariachi Juan Seguin Musical Director. Carla touched countless lives in her community of Seguin, as well as in San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley. Her musical talent was a divine gift, and she used it to spread joy to thousands across Texas and beyond. She will forever be remembered as a cherished member of La Famosa, Mariachi Las Altenas, where she forged lasting bonds of sisterhood over the course of more than 20 years.

Carla's light will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of faith, family, love, and music will live on in the lives of her children, her family, and all who were blessed to witness her extraordinary gift.
