Obituary

Carolyn W. Parker, age 96 of Austin, formerly of Seguin, passed away on April 14, 2017.

Carolyn Westbrook Parker was born on January 8, 1921 in Wolfe City, Texas to Bert Carlton and Alice Kate (Rush) Westbrook.  The family moved to Austin in 1927, where she attended Fulmore Elementary, Allen Jr. High, and Austin High School (class of 1938).

She married Emery Glass and moved to Odessa following World War II to open Glass Pharmacy.  Carolyn enjoyed being active in social and civic affairs in Odessa, and was a charter member of the Junior League of Odessa.

In 1973, she married Homer Parker and moved to Seguin, where she was also active in Study Club, bridge groups, and her circle at Emanuel Lutheran Church.  After Homer's death, she retired to Austin to be near family.

With our beloved "Mimi's" passing, we have lost a warm and gracious Texas matriarch.  Her dedication to the UT Longhorns and her bridge friends was surpassed only by her devotion to family.  Mimi loved nothing more than hosting family gatherings and cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all their endeavors.

Survivors include her children, Diane Frick and Tom Glass (Kim) of Austin, and step-children, Doug Parker and Connie Kirchner (Arlon) of Seguin.  Mimi is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and cherished nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tod Frick, Tom Frick, Drew Frick, Tyler Dube, Tommy Glass, Kris Kirchner, Korey Kirchner, and Zach Parker.  Honorary pallbearers are Bob Schriber, Chris Hoffpauir, and David Alvarado.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Tres Hewell Mortuary, 165 Tor Dr., Seguin, Texas, 78155, 830/549-5912, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m.  Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Junior Diabetes Research Foundation/JDRF, 26 Broadway, 14th floor, New York, NY 10004; Emanuel's Lutheran Church, 206 North Travis Street , Seguin, Texas 78155; or a charity of your choice.
