Obituary

Charles Joseph Beall, Sr. was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on November 21, 1930 to Irving and Nina Beall. He died on January 17, 2010, at the age of 79 surrounded by his family. Visitation will begin Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church followed by a rosary to be recited at 1:30p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. His parents, his sister, Norma Merideth, and his grandson, Michael Xavier Beall, precede him in death. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Claire, and six children, Charles Jr., Diane, Melissa, Theresa, Jennifer and Christopher and their spouses. He was the proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and is Uncle Charles to numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles began his music career as the vocalist for the Air Force Band of the West at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, and performed with the San Antonio Symphony. He attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, prior to receiving a Bachelor's degree in Voice and a Master's degree in Vocal Pedagogy and Opera Production from Indiana University. He has used his training by performing in numerous opera and music theater productions. He will be remembered for his role as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof and many other productions at the Fiesta Dinner Play House in San Antonio, Texas. He had minor roles in two motion pictures, Terms of Endearment and Cloak & Dagger, and an NBC mini-series, Celebrity. He is also fondly remembered as being Santa Claus for thousands of children for the last 25 years. It was his hope to bring Christ's love to children through this role.
He was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in Seguin, Texas, song leader, Eucharistic Minister and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.
His legacy will live on not only in the many acts of love and kindness that he did throughout his life but also in the lives of his family who were impacted by his music, wit, devotion, and commitment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church Austin Street Property Fund, 510 S. Camp, Seguin, TX 78155 .

A reception will follow in the St. James Catholic Church Fellowship Hall and friends are invited to bring in mementos or photos to display during the reception.
