Charles Edwin "Buzz" Mueller, age 93 of McQueeney, passed away on July 19, 2018. Buzz was born on January 23, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas to Charles and Claire (Zinsmeyer) Mueller. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in San Antonio. Buzz proudly served in the United States Navy and trained as a pilot during World War II. In 1940 after attending college, he joined his mother in starting what is today known as Lake Breeze Ski Lodge on Lake McQueeney. It became a popular social spot known as the Water Skiing Capital of Texas, which he enjoyed running throughout his lifetime along side his son Kipp. Following a visit to Cypress Gardens, Fl., Buzz introduced waterskiing to Texas. He built and installed the first ski jump at the lake in 1948 and was the first to ski over it. Buzz coached his brother, Joe Mueller, who went on to become a World Champion Waterskier and record holder. He started the Buzz Mueller Ski Show, which became Lake McQueeney Ski Bees and the tradition carries on today. Buzz taught thousands of people to water ski and many generations of those skiers continue enjoying the lake and Ski Lodge today. Buzz was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Rosemary Krezdorn and her husband Alfred Krezdorn, his brother, Joe Mueller, his nephew, Don Krezdorn, his father-in-law, Dr. Lucian Bukowski and his brothers-in-law, Buck Bukowski and John Carothers. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Beverlye Mueller; sons, Charles Edwin "Chaz" Mueller, Jr. and wife Susan, Todd Allen Mueller and wife Amy, and Kipp Lucian Mueller and wife Kim; grandchildren, Claire Mueller, Paden Mueller, Mimi Mueller, Cole Mueller and Brooke Mueller; mother-in-law, Beverlye Bukowski Rea; sisters-in-law, Margaret Mueller, Lynn Carothers, and Janet McDonald and husband Tim; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many, many friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Harper, Dr. Michael Hoffman, Doug Jones, Carl Krezdorn, Tim McDonald, John Medrano, Paul Mueller, Edward Rose, Dr. Robert Spalten, Bob Spalten, Michael Stautzenberger, Pete Thompson and Bryan Walters. The family is most grateful for the loving care and friendship of Tina Deese. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 10:30 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 386 N. Castell Ave., New Braunfels, Tx, 78130. Private interment will be held at a later date.
