Charles was born on October 14, 1918 in Lamar Co., Texas (near Paris) to Shelby Jackson Clement and Charlene Wilkinson Clement. In 1920 the family moved to San Angelo where his mother died of tuberculosis when he was 11 years old. At 17 he moved to California and was drafted in 1940 in Fort Ord, California into the United States Army prior to their entrance into World War II. Having done well on his basic test he was propelled to the newly formed Officer's Training School and became what was known in the Army as a "90 Day Wonder". After World War II he served 10 additional years as a reserve officer earning the rank of Captain. He landed in the Canal Zone of Panama in 1944 and there he met his first wife, Jane Reynolds, the mother of his daughter and grandmother to his grandchildren. They married a year later and moved first to San Angelo and a year later to Los Angeles where Jane worked as an Executive Secretary and supported them while Chuck went to engineering school on the GI bill. He graduated from Northrop Aeronautical University as an Aeronautical Engineer in 1951. Several years after that he was Chief Engineer for Hi-Shear Aircraft Rivet Corporation in Torrance, California in there "air-craft design and manufacturing division". In 1961, weary of the drafting board, together Jane and Charles formed TECNI-QUIP in Long Beach, California where they found their niche in designing and manufacturing some of the first Linen Distribution Carts for the Health Care Industry. In Long Beach, Charles was involved with the Paramount Golf Association, The Chamber of Commerce and an Elder at Faith Presbyterian Church. In 1996 TECNI-QUIP relocated from California to Seguin, Texas, having built a new factory on 123 Bypass. His beloved Jane died from cancer in 1994 before the relocation. Upon moving to Seguin with his family, Edith "Edie" Conner came into Charles life in 1998 and they soon married in Las Vegas. They enjoyed playing golf until her death on August 27, 2010. Chuck was involved in many activities and hobbies the last two years, until he contracted pneumonia and his health deteriorated since June. He is preceded in death by his first and second wives, his parents, and his sister, Louise Ray. Survivors include his loving daughter, Jo Beth Reilly and husband Mike; grandchildren whom he adored, Allie Marie Reilly and Evan Michael Clement Reilly; sister, Mary Tom Monette; other loving family members.
