Charline Appelt Ehlers, age 85 of Seguin, passed away on February 22, 2016. Charline was born on November 25, 1930 in Hallettsville Texas to Benjamin and Leona (Coldewey) Appelt. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hallettsville and was married in the same church to Walter Ehlers, of Yoakum, on July 22, 1950. She graduated from Hallettsville High School Class of 1947 and attended both Texas Lutheran University and Texas State University. She and Walter lived in San Antonio, New Braunfels, Boerne and moved to Seguin in 1968. Charline was instrumental in starting the Guadalupe Valley Family Violence Shelter. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and served on various committees. Charline is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her nieces, Laura Van Pelt and Denise Ehlers Wyatt and nephew, Lester Van Pelt, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Cathy Ehlers; son, Rick Ehlers and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Erin Ehlers Teter and husband Steven; Zachary Ehlers and wife Jessica, Jordan Walker and husband James, and Colin Ehlers; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Teter, Emily Teter, Paige Walker, Brooke Walker, Kate Walker and Bennett Ehlers; niece, Valerie Pugh; nephew, Mark Ehlers; sister-in-law, Sandra Ehlers; and many special friends.
