Major Clarence E. Sahm, United States Army, (Ret.), age 87, passed away September 17, 2016. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastors Sonja and Dave Phillips officiating and military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H U Wood Post 245 in Seguin. A reception will follow at the Geronimo Memorial VFW Post 8456. Private interment will be held at the Peace in the Valley Cemetery in Geronimo. Clarence was born August 14, 1929 in George West, Texas to Alwin and Ida (Hofmann) Sahm. Clarence enlisted in the Army at age 17 and retired after 20 years, having served tours in Korea, Germany, Newfoundland, Kansas, Colorado, and Virginia, as well as his home State of Texas. After he retired from the military, Clarence returned to Texas and began doing something he loved, farming and ranching. Clarence met and married the love of his life, Emmie A. Krause on December 20, 1950, and together they spent 65 wonderful years together on their farm near Geronimo. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Oran Sahm; sisters, Lorene Lemley, and Frances Marsh. Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Emmie; his children, Michael Sahm and wife Marilyn, Cynthia Berger-Schmidt, and husband David, Deborah L. Rider; grandchildren, Lisa, Katie, Chelsea, Steven, Suzanne, David, Daryl, and Randi; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Henrietta Brundrett; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
