Clarence L. Schuenemann, age 83, of Edmond, Oklahoma and formerly of Seguin, passed away on January 16, 2008. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday January 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Cross United Church of Christ with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #245. He served his country in the US Army during World War II and was a life member of VFW Post #8456. Clarence was born on June 28, 1924 in Guadalupe County to Erwin and Clara Lockstedt Schuenemann. He graduated from Navarro High School in 1940. On October 22, 1950 he married Dorothy G. Strempel Schuenemann at Friedens United Church of Christ. They were married 53 years. His wife preceded him in death as did his parents, his brother, Roland Schuenemann, and his son, Dennis Schuenemann. Survivors include his daughter, Carol Sartor and husband Jolly of Edmond, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Justin Sartor, and Kristi Sartor and fiancé Eddie McDuff; sister-in-law, Marilyn Schuenemann; brother-in-law, Gilbert G. Strempel and wife Gail; sister-in-law, Doris Rose and husband Jesse; two nephews, Steven Schuenemann, and Todd Rose and wife Kelley; niece Micheal Anne McNew and husband Mike; and several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Schuenemann, Milton Pankau, MelvinPankau, Paul Freudenberg, Robert Sartor and Justin Sartor. Honorary pallbearers, who are surviving graduates of the Navarro High School Class of 1940, will be Calvin Henze, Melvin Bading and Chester Boenig. Memorial contributions may be made to Cross United Church of Christ, 814 N. Bauer, Seguin, Texas 78155 or to the American Legion Post #245, 618 E. Kingsbury, Seguin, Texas 78155.
