Late Tuesday afternoon at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Mrs. Cora Lena Glenewinkel Jahns passed away. Cora was the 4th of 10 children, born on August 9, 1919 in Kingsbury, and was reared mainly in Kingsbury but briefly attended school in Geronimo and church and Sunday school at Friedens Church in Geronimo. She was baptized and confirmed at Cross Church in Seguin. She was the last surviving member of the Kingsbury High School Graduating Class of 1936. She married Edgar Jahns in 1937 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Seguin. She lived most of her adult life and reared her family on the ranch she dearly loved at Capote. In her later years she resided on Court Street and later at Eden Place in Seguin. She was ninety-five and one half years old and was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar A. Jahns, her grandson, Keith Stuart Haecker, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August (Lina Bittner) Glenewinkel, Jr., her siblings, Martin Glenewinkel, Norman Glenewinkel, Elsie Wagener, Henry Glenewinkel, Angela Mac, Ann Heinemeyer, and Elmer Glenewinkel, her niece Gem Glenewinkel and her lifelong friend, Jane Imhoff Metcalf. She is survived by her two children, Sandra Jahns Haecker and husband Eugene of San Antonio, and Marcus Jahns and his wife Patricia of Seguin; her grandchildren, Lisa Theron and husband Hans of Wheaton Illinois, Matthew Haecker and wife Yvonne, Jahna Jahns, Theorron Jahns, and Annaka Jahns all of San Antonio; she was blessed by her great- grandchildren, Hunter, Tyler and Grayson Theron of Wheaton, Illinois and Emma Haecker and Christian Read of San Antonio; brothers, August Glenewinkel, III, of Kingsbury, and Herman "Jake" Glenewinkel and wife Barbara, of Cibolo; dear friend, Willie Mae Soefje; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Cross Church, 814 N. Bauer, Seguin, Texas, 78155, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Haecker, Hans Theron, Theorron Jahns, and her nephews. She was a very gracious and modest person that lived a very full and meaningful life that was totally committed to her family, friends and rural life highly steeped in family heritage and tradition. Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Church.
