Obituary

On Friday February 11, 2022 Coy Ray Stewart went home to be with his Lord and Savior in heaven. Coy's passing opened the doors for God's glory to shine and ended his 6 year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease. For all that knew Coy, you knew that he embodied love. He loved Jesus first and foremost and he loved people. With his out-going, loving personality he would take any opportunity to share God's love in conversation, charity, his actions and his gift. He had a heart for going to church, encouraging and taking care of others anytime he could, teaching, mentoring and his calm demeanor exuded love. Coy spent his early years growing up in Nixon, TX. He was a handy-man, outdoors man and an athlete. He took any opportunity to work with hands, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, baseball, volleyball and other sports. Another love of his life was Dolores "Lola" Stewart and his pride and joy was their two sons, Coy Ray Jr. and Aaron Marshall. Lola and Coy met in 1988 working together at Wal-mart in Seguin. Shortly after, Lola tested their commitment by picking up and moving to California and the smitten Coy surely followed. They spent 3 years on the west coast where they had their first son Coy Jr. in 1990 and Aaron followed in 1992. The two moved back to Seguin in 1990 and have lived here ever since. The pair entered into a loving covenant on Valentine's Day in 1997 under the lights of the San Antonio Rodeo arena and they have lived almost attached at the hip ever since that day; if you saw Coy you saw Lola. Coy worked at Commercial Metals Company (CMC) climbing his way through the ranks over a period of 28 years. His last position held was Maintenance Coordinator for the shipping department. Even there he took every opportunity to fellowship, love others and share God's word. Coy was preceded in death by his father Victor Allen Mayfield, step-father Stanley Brooks and sister Lori Gail Barheight. He is survived by his wife Dolores Stewart, son Coy Ray Stewart Jr ("CJ"), son Aaron Marshall Stewart, his daughter-in-love Ashley Stewart and three grandsons Braxton Stewart, Brody Marshall Stewart and Griffin Coy Stewart. He is also survived by his mother Virginia Bell Brooks, brother Randy Mayfield and his wife Susan Mayfield, honorary grandbabies Collin and Trenton McKinney, and Brock and Beckham Redix, and also several nieces, nephews.
