Daniel "Dan" Heideke, age 78 of Seguin, passed away on June 4, 2010. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jim Price and Willie Spreen officiating. Interment with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Dan was born on April 14, 1932 in Seguin, Texas to Edwin and Edna Jahns Heideke. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He served as an air craft mechanic for the FAA in Oklahoma City and later at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio. After a total of 43 years in Civil Service he retired as a postal carrier for the United States Post Office in Seguin. He will be lovingly remembered for interests in gardening, fishing and playing jokes on his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time on his John Deere Tractor. His parents and infant sister, Geraldine Heideke preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 53 years June Neuse Heideke; son, Joel Heideke; daughters, Janice Schievelbein and husband Tim and Joy Baumann and husband John; grandchildren, Tyler Heideke, Adam Schievelbein and wife Julie, Danielle Schievelbein and fiancé Victor Benavidez, Randall Schievelbein, Hannah Schievelbein, Mason Baumann, Madison Baumann; great-grandchildren, Aspen, Cameron, Ashlyn and Haley, sister, Barbara Batey; numerous nieces and nephews.
