Darwin Heidemeyer, age 87 of Seguin, entered into heaven on August 11, 2018 in his home with his family by his side after being diagnosed only 33 days ago with mesothelioma. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 4-6 PM at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Leon Morris officiating. Interment will take place following the service at Memory Lawn Memorial Park. Darwin was born in Lockhart TX., on April 1, 1931 to Clarence and Hilda (Braune) Heidemeyer. Darwin served in the Navy from 1951-1954, on the USS Begor APD-127, a vessel that delivered Navy Seals to their destination. Meeting his Navy buddy Babe there, they still communicated after all these years. He was a hardworking, kind hearted man who made friends with everyone he met. Darwin is preceded in death by his parents, his son Darwin Heidemeyer Jr. (Butch), and his sister Linda Jackson. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Heidemeyer; son, Russell Heidemeyer; daughter, Rochelle Hesseltine and husband Richard; daughter-in-law, Kim Heidemeyer; grandchildren, Rachelle Helmcamp and husband Chad, Krystal Simon and husband Casey, Wayne Hesseltine and wife Jamie, Brittany Heidemeyer, Gabriel Martinez, Joshua Heidemeyer and wife Teri, Eric Heidemeyer and wife Nita, Cheryl Gaitan and husband Mike, J.R. Oliver, Kristen Heidemeyer, De De Heidemeyer, Trey Heidemeyer, Shonna Heidemeyer; great-grandchildren,Michael, Halen, Hayden, Eli, Zach, Tyler, Adrian, Nathan, Zayden, T.J., Re Re, James, Ashlynn, Daylynn and one on the way; nephews, Clay Jackson and Rick Jackson; niece, Debra Shields and Michelle; as well as many other loving family members. Darwin will be remembered as a farm loving man, continuing farming after retirement, as it was his passion. He planted 70 pecan trees and was so grateful to live to see them grow, he raised pygmy goats and loved his egg laying chickens. Darwin will be missed by his family and friends.
