David "Red" Alfred Durland, age 63 of Seguin, formerly of Converse, passed away on June 21, 2008. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 24, 2008 beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Converse with Rev. Dennis Arechiga officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. "Red" was born on June 9, 1945 in Des Plaines, Illinois to Charles Free and Grace Louise Gilbertson Durland. His parents precede him in death. Survivors include his wife, Maryanne Durland; children, David Durland, Jr., John Durland, Mike Durland and wife Jenny and Kristin Purnell and husband Robert; grandchildren, Angelica, Grace, Jocelyn, Jack and Erica; sister, Priscilla Giamalva and husband Joseph; brother, Charles Durland, Jr.; sister-in-law, Susan Cielak and husband Joe; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
