David C. Serna passed away on January 2, 2015. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. with Geronimo Reyes officiating. A procession will depart Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel, Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. for the mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery. A reception will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Hall. David was born on June 21, 1927 in Victoria, Texas to Agapito and Anita Chavez Serna. David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, after which worked for several years in Seguin as an auto body mechanic, and later in life in Civil Service at Randolph Air Force Base. His true joy, however was dancing with his wife, fishing, and spending time with his family, who he loved dearly. David is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Herminia Reyes Serna; children Janie Irene Serna Martinez, David Serna, Jr., Richard Serna and wife Elizabeth, Chris Serna and wife Francis, and Veronica Serna and partner Jennifer; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, David III, Deric, Marsha, Christopher, Yvonne, Natalie, Erica, C.J., Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Desiree, D'Anna, D'Nae, Jenna, Zyda, Jaelyn, Alex, Jacob, K'Lynn, Jordan, Mariah, Ryan, Josee, Christopher Jr., Makalya, Claire, Kobe, Brady, Bryson, Ali, Jameson, Kaylee, Braeden, Bryson, ; great great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Eleiah, Ethan, Bentley, Grayson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
