Obituary

After a 10 year battle with numerous health problems, David Lee Underwood passed away at the age of 55 on August 1, 2021 in Seguin Texas with his devoted companion of many years Tina Vanderburg at his side.

He was born on October 2, 1965 in Redwood City, California. At the age of five his family moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he grew up and attended Nolan Catholic High School. As an adult he lived in Huntington Beach, California, and El Paso, Texas. He moved back to North Texas and two years ago, he and Tina moved to the country near Seguin, Texas where they enjoy the peacefulness, tranquility and wildlife along with their fur-babies.

David was a lifelong music lover, his passion was repairing and building guitars and other string instruments. He worked in music instrument sales and owned his own guitar repair shop before illness forced him to retire.

David was passionate about many things: he loved building guitars,  grilling (rain, snow or shine); listening and playing music; Live music shows; his Boxer babies, Bree, Buford, Bindi and Mia; Max, his obnoxious but dedicated Chihuahua; and his special Calico cat  Sophie (Who only liked David); Playing air guitar; making fun of the lyrics to songs that he couldn't understand; helping Tina prepare the garden because he knew how much she loves gardening; and above all life. Not necessarily in that order.

David was a buddy, coworker, band mate, school friend, Facebook friend, music industry friend, old friend and a new friend. Known as Super Dave, Guitar Dave, David and Dave, it didn't matter how you knew him, he was one and the same. He cherished memories of good times he had with so many people. He knew he was blessed to have known many wonderful people he came across through his life over the years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Clyde Underwood Sr. And Peggy Sue McCracken Underwood and nephew, Wes Cotton.

David is survived by his life partner Tina Vanderburg; his brother, Joseph Clyde Underwood Jr; sisters, Laura (Joe) Duncan Cadahia, and Karen(Chris) Plummer, his aunt, Millie Underwood; uncle, Lowell McCracken; aunt Patsy (Tommy) Hinkson and cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of the life of David Underwood will be held in the DFW Metroplex in the future and details will be announced on his Facebook page. Memorial contributions may be made to Little Kids Rock at www.littlekidsrock.org or the humane society of choice.
