Dolores "Dee" Machaud, age 88 of Seguin passed away on May 19, 2018. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Cross Church with Rev. Jim Price officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Private interment will take place at a later date in the San Geronimo Cemetery. Dee was born on April 27, 1930 in Schertz, Texas to Theodore and Anita (Achterberg) Schmidt.
Dee graduated from Seguin High School and was a graduate of the University of Texas, earning a bachelor's degree in Education. She went on to Southwest Texas State University to complete a certification in Speech Pathology. She was devoted to her job as a speech therapist for Seguin ISD and enjoyed working with her young students, combining her professional knowledge with her love for children's literature. Dee's greatest passion in life was her family, and her gentle, compassionate nature and willingness to do anything for family earned her the title of "supermom." She instilled her love for reading in all of her children and grandchildren, creating future generations of lifelong learners. Dee was a most gracious hostess, loving to entertain in her home. Travel was one of Dee's enjoyments in life. She, along with her husband, Al, traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. A favorite trip for Dee was a 31 day drive to Alaska through the Canadian Yukon. She will be remembered for her empathy, affection, and generosity, which had a positive and strong influence on the lives of her students, friends, and family.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Hilbert, her son, Scott Machaud, her parents and her step-father I. W. Burrows. Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Albert "Al" Machaud; son, Mark Machaud and wife, Jo Anne; daughter, Julie Brown and husband, Dix; grandchildren, Lindsay Sonstein, Kristen Huffman, Colby Machaud, Jennifer Gonzalez, Heather Moffat, Natalie Stridde, and Austin Brown ; great-grandchildren, Claire, Abigail, and Hannah Sonstein, Jackson and Carson Machaud, Olivia Gonzalez, Bowie and Waylon Stridde.` Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Church Memorial Fund, 814 N.
