Dorothy May Calentine, age 93 of Seguin, arrived at her heavenly home on February 7, 2016. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Cross Church on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Dorothy was born on December 18, 1922 in Gonzales Texas to Lonnie and Elma (Flynn) May. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, Delmar Moltz and John Calentine, Sr., her daughter, Carrie Holub and husband James Holub, Sr., her parents, brother, Arthur May, and sister, Adela Hairr. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Predmore (Dr. Lawrence Predmore), and Anna Durant (Ronnie); son, John Calentine, Jr. (Jessica); grandchildren, Kelly Predmore, Robert Predmore (Hannah), John Calentine III (Carol), Christine Hopper (Gary), James Holub, Jr. (Rachel) Flara Lopez (Rick), Aimee Horak, Chris Horak (Nicole); great grandchildren, John Wesley Calentine (Jessica), Ashley Hopper, Dallas Hopper (Crystal), Justin Holub, Miranda, Layne and Rylee Horak; great-great granddaughters, Jayden Calentine and Olive Duhamel; nephews, Mike Hairr (Jan), Randy Hairr (Amy) nieces, Pat Groves (Mark) and Kathy Czarnecka; numerous great nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Dorothy was employed in the County Tax Collectors office, Law Offices and retired after working for many years for Drs. Zunker and Krohn. Dorothy loved her church and was a member of Cross United Church of Christ, now Cross Church, since 1947. She sang in the choir for many years, served in Church Council, co-chaired Adult Christian Fellowship, Women of the Church, Sunday School Teacher, and Vacation Bible School Teacher. In 1999, Dorothy was honored at General Synod of the United Church of Christ as a "Woman of the Year". In 1993, AARP presented Dorothy with a certificate of appreciation for outstanding service in the community. Hermann Sons presented her with the Humanitarian Award in 2000. Cross Church presented her with a plaque in 2014 for her many years singing in the choir. She was also presented a plaque for six years of service on the Guadalupe County appraisal Board and for ten years of service at the Christian Cupboard. Dorothy loved volunteering and was an RSVP member for many, many years and a past president of the Zonta Club of Seguin. Serving as pallbearers will be John Wesley Calentine, James Holub, Robert Predmore, Rick Lopez, Gary Hopper, and Dallas Hopper.
