Dorothy Jean Parker was born on December 23, 1926, in Kyle, TX, to William E. and Tonie Doyle Wiegand. She passed away on February 1, 2014, in Seguin, at the age of 87. Prior to graduation from Southwest Texas State Teachers College, San Marcos, with a teaching degree, she met Stephen Parker, after his return from duty in the South Pacific in WWII. Upon their marriage on August 28, 1947, she and Stephen settled in Ingleside and raised their family. Dorothy taught science courses at Aransas Pass High School and Ingleside High School before her retirement. In 2001, she and Stephen moved to Seguin.
Preceded in death are her parents and brothers, William Wiegand and Thomas Wiegand.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen; brothers, John Wiegand and Rex Wiegand; sons, Randall (Robby), Stanley (Priscilla), and Roger (Linda); daughters, Stephanie and Rebecca (Phil) Thompson; granddaughters, Nicole, Alyssa, Christina, and Angela; and grandsons, Ryan (Marisa), Richard, Joshua, Travis, Stephen, James, and Daniel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 10 AM at First Baptist Church in Seguin, with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating. The family will greet visitors in the church lobby at 9 AM prior to the service. Graveside services and interment will follow at 1 PM at the Live Oak Cemetery, Uhland, TX. Thereafter, a reception will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Kyle. In lieu of flowers, memorial bequests may be made, in Dorothy's name, to the First Baptist Church, 1314 E. Cedar St., Seguin, TX 78155, or to the South Texas Children's Home Ministries, P.O. Box 759, Beeville, TX 78104.
