Dorothy Draeger Ryan, age 99 of Seguin, passed away on August 23, 2017. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Heare officiating. Private interment will be held at San Geronimo Cemetery. Dorothy was born on June 9, 1918 in Seguin, Texas to Henry and Nela Draeger. She was a 1936 graduate of Seguin High School. She later attended the University of San Antonio (now Trinity University) and later Southern Methodist University. Dorothy married Robert T. (Bob) Ryan, Sr. on December 27, 1939. The special times in her life was spending time with her family. Known as a great cook in the family, she will be remembered for the special recipe books she made for each of her grandchildren. She traveled extensively, played bridge in several bridge clubs, a member of the Seguin Study Club and Lazy Daisy Garden Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Seguin and was an active member of United Methodist Women. She sang for 35 years in the Church Choir. Dorothy worked in the Seguin Independent School District in Special Education for 16 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister, Ruth Schuessler. Survivors include her son, Robert T. (Tom) Ryan, Jr. a retired Seguin attorney; her daughter, Patsy Heare and husband Jerry of Austin; grandchildren, Dr. Robert T. (Tres) Ryan, III, a practicing physician in Seguin, and his wife Dr. Alyson Ryan, a practicing physician in Seguin, Jennifer Ryan of Austin, Rev. Scott R. Heare, a Methodist Pastor in Bulverde and his wife Cathi, and Heather Rains and husband David of Spring Texas; great-grandchildren, Reid Ryan, Kate Ryan, Ryan, Emily, Ethan and Kylen Heare, and Autumn, Rylie and Logan Rains.
