Obituary

Douglas Austin Dickerson, age 55, of San Marcos passed away peacefully on January 30, 2018. Doug was born November 12, 1962 in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Virginia Keys and Billy Ray Dickerson. Doug was a 1980 graduate of Stratford High School in Houston and graduated with a double degree in History and English from Texas State University in 1985. He was predeceased by his father, Billy Ray Dickerson.
He is survived by his mother Virginia Keys Hughes and stepfather Gordon L. Hughes of New Braunfels, his brother Jeffrey S. Dickerson, wife Julie and nephew Ben of Austin, and sister Angela C. Dickerson and niece Georgia Claire Nickel of Seguin. He is also survived by uncles George F. Keys III of Honolulu, Hawaii, Robert L. Keys of Houston, Robert Dickerson of College Station, Roy Dickerson Jr. of Austin, and nine cousins.
Doug was former President, Managing Partner and Senior Consultant at Qualitec Technical Services in Houston. Since his retirement he lived in San Marcos, Texas and enjoyed perfecting his talent in art along with gardening, camping and fishing, and his beloved cats, Aramis and D'Artagnan, named after his heroes in The Three Musketeers. He was a wonderful cook and loved all things culinary. All who knew him will miss his sweet nature and unique qualities.  Services will be private. Written condolences may be addressed to Virginia K.
