Douglas G. "Doug" Herrle, age 71 of Seguin, passed away on Armed Forces Day, May 17, 2014. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Richard Cusson and Rev. Ruben Archield officiating. Full military honors will follow at the chapel under the auspices of the DAV Chapter 61. Private interment will be held at a later date. Doug was born on February 9, 1943 in San Antonio Texas to Ferdinand "Pop" and Ninetta "Netta" (Dickey) Herrle. Doug voluntarily entered the United States Marine Corps in 1959 to serve his country. Successfully completing a 21 year career, he retired in 1981. Returning to Texas, Doug began his second career as a Veteran's Representative for the State of Texas. His second retirement in 2003 left him still wanting to continue serving the veterans he believed were so deserving. Doug dedicated the remainder of his life to the Texas veterans through the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 61 in Seguin. His parents precede him in death as do his sister Sissy and brother Sonny. Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years whom he married on July 10, 1982 in Spokane Washington, Terri; sons, Don and Rande; daughter, Cheryl; grandkids, William, Felicia and Mia; great-grandkids, Serenity and Scott; brothers, J. R., Herman, Homer; sisters, Jean, Joyce, Margie, Kay and Susie; brother-in-law, Tom Clinton and wife Elaine; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.
