Edgar Allen Knodel, age 87 of Seguin, passed away on January 2, 2024.  Edgar was born in Guadalupe County, Texas to Lilly Mae (Seay) and Paul H. Knodel.  Born and raised in Seguin, Edgar was a 1955 graduate of Seguin High School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army for a brief time.  Sarah Ann Elley and Edgar married on September 22, 1960.  He retired from Civil Service after many years of maintaining government warehouses.

Edgar was an honorary member of the Guadalupe County Sherriff's Mounted Posse. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and coffee time with all his coffee buddies.  His most treasured times were spent with family, especially at the holidays.

Edgar is preceded in death by his loving wife Sarah Knodel, his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lola and Albert Elley, brother, Paul Knodel, Jr., sisters, Virginia Jahns, Pearl Graham, Wilma Inez Roe, and Marjorie "Tuddy" Knodel.

Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Knodel Mejia and husband Rene, and Deborah Knodel; son, Donny Knodel; grandchildren, Michael Pompa and wife Nicole, Leslie Johnson and wife Alyssa, Jenna Snoga and husband Derek, Kyle Knodel and Mason Knodel; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Linda Schulz and husband Allen "Butch", and Beverly Koepsel and husband Glen; brother-in-law, Ricky Elley and wife Cathy; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.

Visitation will begin on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 2 p.m. followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Herman Cramer officiating.  Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.
