Obituary

Edith Kiel, age 93 of Seguin, passed away on December 1, 2011. A celebration of Edith's life will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Bauerkemper officiating. A reception will follow in the Life Enrichment Center. Private interment will be held at a later date in San Geronimo Cemetery. Edith was born on May 2, 1918 in East Moline Illinois to Fred G. and Bertha Almquist Olson. She met Garfield Kiel at Texas Lutheran College (now Texas Lutheran University) and they married in 1941. Together they founded KWED Radio Station in Seguin. Edith was also the first director of the pre-school program at Faith Lutheran Church and the first Parish Education Associate at Faith Lutheran Church. Edith loved art, especially all of God's lovely creations.
She was preceded in death by her husband Garfield Kiel in 1968, her parents and 1 sister and 3 brothers. Survivors include her loving children, Jeep Kiel and wife Babs, Beverly Hoffman and husband Marty, Karen Wallock and husband Mark and Ken Kiel and wife Teresa; grandchildren, Linda Roskydal and husband Dale, Jay Kiel, Scott Hoffman and wife Nichole, Allison Hastings and husband Doug, Sara Elley and husband Colby, Lisa Kunde, Josh Baker and wife Rebecca Dittmar, Matt Wallock and wife Amber, Whitney Keene, Kevin Kiel and fiancé Alyssa Fernandez, and Ryan Kiel; great-grandchildren, Ashley and husband Patrick, Samantha and husband Dante, Katie, Rachel, Dylan, Cassidy, Nevaeh, McKenna, Kendall, Camryn, Lauren, Jackson, Morgan, Caleb, Max, Colton, Wesley, Lyla and Mia; great-great grandchildren, Chase, Kinley, Brylee, Kacen, Jaron and Dylan; sisters-in-law, Audrey Olson, Virginia Olson, Nell Schmidt, and Jackie Simpson and husband J. D.; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In honor of Edith's life please wear colorful clothing to her service.
