Edward Young, age 82 of Seguin, passed away on June 15, 2019. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Walnut Street Church of Christ with Mr. Ken Walters officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Edward was born on February 2, 1937 in Cotulla, Texas to James Franklin and Mary Ella (Southern) Young. He was a graduate of Seguin High School Class of 1955. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served four years. He was an active member of Walnut Street Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and an elder. His wife Joyce taught at Marion High School and throughout those years Edward was a faithful, loyal and spirited Bulldog Fan. He also enjoyed gardening. He loved his family and especially loved spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Keith Young, his parents, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Joyce Young; daughters, Beth Shurtleff and husband Keith, and Amy Watson and husband Tony; sister, Opaldean Weigand; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Watson, Brandon Shurtleff, Brian Shurtleff, Chance Martin, Jack Pirtle, and Ken Batterton. Edward never met a stranger and will be missed by all his family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Street Church of Christ, 1351 E.
