Elaine Seay Grimm, age 86 of Seguin, passed away on January 17, 2015. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Knobles officiating. Interment will follow at Dugger Cemetery. Elaine was born on November 30, 1928 in Guadalupe County to James P. and Florence (Gerdes) Seay. Elaine was baptized, confirmed and married in the Methodist Church in Seguin. She graduated from Seguin High School, Class of 1946, and attended Texas State Teachers College (Texas State University). Elaine began teaching at Dietert School in Zorn and was employed as a teacher's aide and substitute teacher in the S.I.S.D. On August 6, 1948 she married Raymond H. Grimm who preceded her in death on December 14, 2001. Raymond and Elaine were lifelong residents of Guadalupe County. Elaine was a Life member of the Seguin Fire Department Auxiliary for 64 years and a member of the Texas Extension Education Club for 65 years. Elaine is preceded in death by her husband Raymond; sister Doris Land Nivens; sister Vernelle and husband W.A. Carley; and brother-in-law Ray Carley. Survivors include her daughters, Karen Soefje and husband John, Lois Baysinger and husband Jeffrey; grandchildren, Kassie Soefje Johnson and husband Michael, Grant Baysinger, Jillian Soefje, Cort Baysinger; sisters-in-law Norma Stollewerk and husband Paul, Laura Mae Carley, Evelyn Carley and husband Bob, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
