Obituary

Ella Lemke Davis, age 89 of Seguin passed away on May 11, 2012. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Paul M. Cross officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. Ella was born on November 27, 1922 in the Jahns Community at Capote, Texas, the fourth child born to Paul and Minnie Beicker Lemke. Ella attended the Jahns School in Capote, and completed her education at the Harborth School in the Barbarosa area. She worked in New Braunfels at a children's milliner and later at the Comal Textile Mill. She married Roy Davis on May 7, 1953. Ella served her church and community in various ladies activities and volunteering at Nesbit Living and Recovery Center and Care Inn (Windsor) Nursing Home. Her beloved husband of 57 years, Roy Davis preceded her in death in February 2011. Her parents, her older brothers Alvin Lemke of Marion, Milton Lemke of Seguin and her sister, Emma (Kierum) Wolfhart of Cibolo preceded her in death. Survivors include her nephew, Wayne Lemke of Luling; nieces, Cathie Lemke Brian and husband David of Grand Junction, Colorado and Joan Lemke Ortner of Burleson, Texas; great-niece Lisa Ortner of Burleson, Texas; great-nephew, Derek Ortner and wife Angie of Parker, Colorado; great-great nephew, Grayson Ortner of Parker, Colorado; numerous other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 1326 E. Cedar, Seguin, 78155, or to the Guadalupe Co. Humane Society, P. O. Box 1593, Seguin, Texas, 78156-1593.
