Obituary

Elton W. Neumann, age 92 of Geronimo, passed away on September 29, 2013. Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ with Interim Pastor Peter Nichols officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. Elton was born on January 22, 1921 to Richard and Ida Heinemeyer Neumann at the family farm in Geronimo. Elton proudly served in the United States Air Force during World War II from 1943 to 1945 where he was primarily stationed in the CBI area. He married Dea Jean Sweet on April 15, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sacramento California. After living in Idaho for three years, Elton and Jean moved back to his beloved farm at Geronimo. Elton served on the Navarro School Board for 15 years including several years as President. He was a member of the Friedens United Church of Christ Council and served as President and Memorial Fund Chairman. He was a member of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 in Seguin and a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign War in Geronimo #8556. He was also a lifetime member of the Barbarossa Nine Pin Bowling Club. Elton is preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers. Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Jean Sweet Neumann; children, Patricia and Alvin Siltmann, Barbara and Bobby Wilson and Kathleen and Andy Knudson; grandchildren, James and Laura Wilson, Cheryl Wilson, Jason and Wendy Siltmann, Trisha Knudson and Kathie Newberry, Dawn and Daniel Rainey, Justin and Julia Siltmann and Shane and Crystal Knudson; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Sarah and Nathan Wilson, Bailee Tanguma, Saige and Ty Rainey, Alex, Lily and Sadie Siltmann and Seda Knudson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be James Wilson, Jason Siltmann, Shane Knudson, Justin Siltmann, Daniel Rainey, David Dreibrodt and James Deatherage. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Williamson, Fred Robertson, Bob Mortellra and Mark Jones. The family appreciates the loving care and compassion of the staff at Nesbit Living and Recovery. Those of the family and friends that visited Elton during his last years- we love you for taking time to share your love with him.
